Nestled in the picturesque Surma Valley amidst scenic tea plantations and lush green tropical forests, greater Sylhet is a prime attraction for all tourists visiting Bangladesh . Laying between the Khasia and the Jaintia hills on the north, and the Tripura hills on the south, Sylhet breaks the monotony of the flatness of this land by a multitude of terraced tea gardens, rolling countryside and the exotic flora and fauna. Here the thick tropical forests abound with many species of wildlife, spread their aroma around the typical hearth and homes of the Mainpuri Tribal maidens famous for their dance. The Sylhet valley is formed by a beautiful, winding pair of rivers named the Surma and the Kushiara both of which are fed by innumerable hill streams from the north and the south. The valley has good number of haors which are big natural depressions. During winter these haors are vast stretches of green land, but in the rainy season they turn into turbulent seas. These haors provide a sanctuary to the millions of migratory birds who fly from Siberia across the Himalayas to avoid the severe cold there.

SrImangal, it is called “The land of two leaves and a bud”. It is also called camellia, green carpet or Tea Mountain . There are a lot of tea estates including the largest one in the world. The terraced tea garden, pineapple, rubber and lemon plantations from a beautiful landscape. It is known as the tea capital in Bangladesh. Just offer entering into the tea estates the nice smells and green beauty will lead you many kilometers away.

Lauwachara Rain Forest  is one of the important & well-reserved forests in Bangladesh . Here visitor may see gibbons swimming through the trees and birds like bee-eater owls parrot. It is a good habitant of Deer, leopard, wild chicken, squirrel, and python. Don’t miss it especially if you are bird watcher. The terrain is hilly and vegetation is fairly thick. Only one rare Chloroform tree of Asia is here and a prime attraction of travelKasia & Manipuri is two important ethnic-tribe live here. Manipuri is famous for its rich culture especially for dancing and singing.

Overnight Trip to Srimangal by Train Tea Centre of Bangladesh

ITINERARY

DAY 01

Leave Dhaka early in the morning 6:40am by Parabat Express train for Srimangal – also known as the ‘land of two leafs and a bud’, a synonym for the tea gardens and the large quantities of tea produced here. This train leaves 6 days a week except Tuesday from Kamalapur Railway Station. It is more convenient to take this train from Airport Railway Station for those people living in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara & DOHS area. Upon arrival at Srimangal Railway Station at around mid-day you will be received and transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon drive to a nearby tea plantation and visit the Manipuri and Khashia communities. Stop at a local textile weaving workshop on the way. Overnight at Srimangal.

DAY 02

Start early in the morning for a rewarding wildlife trek through the nearby Lawachara National Park. This is the best time to observe the abundant and diverse wildlife. As one of the last remaining tropical rainforests of Bangladesh, the Lawachara forest is Home to a large variety of rare and endangered species, the most prominent of which are the Hollock Gibbons. The small tract of dense forests is heaven for birdwatchers, naturalists and adventure seekers alike. After breakfast you will continue with the sightseeing before coming back to the hotel on time to check out of the room before 12 noon. If you want to stay away on the sightseeing longer please check out of your room after breakfast and leave your luggage in the office or take them in the car. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the Srimongal Railway Station for boarding the inter-city train Parabat Express leaving Sylhet Railway Station at 2:45 pm. This train normally arrives at Srimongal Railway Station around 5 pm and runs 6 days a week except of Tuesday. Under normal circumstance this train should arrive in Dhaka at 9:15 pm

In the afternoon drive to a nearby tea plantation and visit the Manipuri and Khashia tribal village to know their life style, agriculture, weaving and betel leave farmer. In the late afternoon visit Madhobpur Dam (lake) & scenic view of Tripura (India) from High hills. On way back to Hotel you find scenic beauty of tea garden, rubber garden & betel nut tree. Relaxed in the special tea stall to experienced five layer tea / green tea. Overnight at Srimongal.
Day-02: Early in the morning walking into the Lawachara rain forest to observe many species of Birds, insects, endangered wild animal. It is the home of “Hollock Gibbons “as tropical rain forest of Bangladesh. Here, you find many species of birds which is more interesting by the bird’s watchers. After taking breakfast we’ll drive two and half hours to reach at Madhobkunda waterfall (biggest waterfall of region).You may trekking to hills (200ft.). After lunch drive to Sylhet. On the way, you’ll see many Tea garden, Rubber plantation and Wetland (Hoar). Sylhet also known as city of Shrine total 360 shrines in this area. But two shrines are biggest Hazrat Shah Jalal Mazar (Shrine) and Hazrat Shah Poran Mazar (Shrine). Overnight stay at Sylhet.

Day-03: After visiting shrine drive to Sharighat for cruising Lalakhal a wonderful place for Boat trip. After cruise drive to Jaflong Zero point India border which is known as stone collection area. Many people collecting stone from river mainly this stone are coming from Indian hill. We’ll visit Tamabil and night stay at Jaflong.

Day-04:

Start for Bisnakandi   at 8 am. It will take about 2 hours to reach at Bisnakandi. Here you can see the hilly tiny river flowing from the hills of Meghalaya, the stream flows through stones as usually found in this part of Sylhet, and it is surrounded by hills covered green vegetation. After having lunch in local restaurant then back to Hotel. Overnight at Sylhet.

Day 05:

After taking breakfast drive to Dhaka. On the way, archaeological excursion to Wari-Bateswar. In the evening arrive in Dhaka. Night stay at Dhaka.

Day 06:

Half day city tour and departure.
